|Spotlight: Santaluz, CA|
|Spotlight San Diego|
Situated in the scenic rolling hills of Southern California, 30 miles from downtown San Diego and only 10 miles inland from the coast, is the highly coveted, idyllic, resort-like community of Santaluz. It is acknowledged by professionals in the real estate and building industries as the best master-planned community in all of Southern California.
Santaluz real estate is well known for it's grand, estate-like homes. An affluent, gated community of 900 homes with 24 hour security, it spans across 3,800 acres of hills, giving residents stunning panoramic views of the surrounding 250 acre golf course fairways, green hills, mountains, and the Pacific ocean.
At the heart of the community is the Santaluz Club which boasts a Rees Jones designed, championship golf course. It's members have access to a clubhouse which include lounges, a spa, a pro shop, and features dining in both fine and casual atmospheres. Not surprisingly, many of the most stately homes in Santaluz border the club's beautiful, lush fairways. Swimming, tennis, group exercise classes, private trainers and The Fresh Roast café can be found at the nearby Hacienda. Also centrally located, is the 11 acre Village Green, another popular spot for neighbors, friends and families to get together for community activities.
Within Santaluz, there are several smaller neighborhood communities comprised of different styles and sizes of homes. From Spanish and Tuscany villa-style homes as well as more traditional two-story homes and bungalows, all sitting on generous lots, each one a private sanctuary in and of itself. For the most part, prices of homes in Santaluz are rising and are currently priced from the $800s to over $5 million depending on the location and views. Garden homes and Spanish Bungalows here can be bought from the high $800s to well over $1 million.
Some neighborhoods in Santaluz feature homes built by well known builders like Centex, DR Horton, Warmington, and Taylor Woodrow. In these neighborhoods, buyers choose a location and the design elements within the homes. Neighborhoods featuring homes with set plans, such as The Casitas and The Sentinels, have homes measuring between 2,000 and 3,000 square feet and are priced between $1 million and $1.5 million. The Posadas, Warmington, and Davidson areas feature homes that are between 3,800 and 5,500 square feet and priced from $900K to over $1.5 million.
Other neighborhoods showcase custom built homes. Usually from 4,000 to over 11,000 square feet, they are seen on large, 1+ acre lots and feature every amenity imaginable. Homes at this level are priced anywhere from $1.2 million to well over $5 million. A major defining factor when considering the value of a home in Santaluz are it's location and the views from the home. Homes with premium views of mountains, fairways, and the Pacific are generally valued at the higher end of the scale.
With San Diego so easily accessible via I-15, many here are able to have a career in the city and retreat to this haven at the end of the day. Appealing to families, empty-nesters and retirees, Santaluz boasts award-winning schools in a community that celebrates outdoor living with activities for all ages in an elegant, safe environment.
